Why you get cold in the stand, even in a “warm” jacket.
It isn’t the temperature that sends you home early. It’s wet + still. Water pulls heat from your body around 25 times faster than air. Wet grass on the walk in, sweat under your layers, then two hours sitting still: that’s when the cold gets in.
More layers make it worse: you sweat more on the walk, then freeze on the sit. And a good jacket over ordinary trousers leaves your knees, seat and thighs, the parts touching the wet stand, to go cold first.
The StalkMaster 3-Layer System, top AND bottom:
1. A tough softshell outer that sheds rain and stops the wind.
2. A waterproof, windproof, breathable membrane that keeps water out and lets sweat vapour escape.
3. A thick fleece lining that traps your heat, in the jacket and the trousers.
Walk in dry. Sit warm. Stay for the best hour.
